This Is a Tactile Experience, Spring 2023 | coiled and sculpted terra cotta, Mayco Jungle Gems | ~15" in diameter, ~12" tall | This piece is meant to act as a lamp. Irregular and often hidden openings along the sulci will allow light and heat to move through the form when candles are placed inside. The flickering light will undulate across the glossy spiked gyri and the room.
Flow, 2022 | stoneware, yarn | 5" tall, 3" at widest | Inspired by the handcrafted and tied wooden boxes Shoji Hamada built to cradle his pieces, this piece is built to allow itself to be taken apart, and to hold itself together again.
Flow, 2022 | stoneware, yarn | 5" tall, 3" at widest | When disassembled, the piece's 'lid' acts as a base. Backflow incense placed in the mouth of the piece will flow down and pool in its green-glazed interior, and spill onto the 'lid.' This piece is intended as a grounding and meditative item, to allow a person to give themselves space and time to unpack and feel their grief, and a sense of calm and safety in packing it back up.

Herd, or “Cow Cups." 2021. About 12 inches stacked, terra cotta clay, wedgewood blue underglaze. Inspired by the famous Vösendorf late Bronze Age feeding vessels with their unique zoomorphic shapes, I created a stacking cup set that can be arranged as a herd. The Vösendorf pieces show evidence of cow's milk protein stored in the unglazed pores of the ceramic, indicating these were used in assistive feeding. Our contemporary US ideology is framed around competition, exploitation, and oppression, but our archeological record tells a story of human kindness spanning into prehistory.
